A landlord from Doncaster has been fined after putting his tenant at risk by failing to have any gas safety checks carried out at his property. The landlord ignored the HSE’s Improvement Notice to get the safety checks done after he failed to maintain gas appliances and pipework and failed to provide a Gas Safety Certificate. The tenant claimed that no one had come to the property to carry out any safety checks. The HSE sent a registered gas engineer to examine the tenants system and identified five ‘At Risk defects’. The landlord pleaded guilty in court and was fined £400 and ordered by the court to pay costs of £1,000.
