Every UK landlord needs a Landlord Gas Safety Record. This record should be renewed annually and a copy must be provided to tenants within 28 days of completed gas work and checks. A gas safety record is a legal requirement for your landlord. Without it, the property is unsafe and your landlord will be committing illegal activity. This is why we at Gas Safety Landlords urge you and your landlord to take care.
Your landlord must organise a visit by a Gas Safe registered engineer, to carry out any work. Gas engineers must then make a record of their conclusion, on a CP12 safety certificate. A CP12 safety record is also commonly known as a gas safety certificate – there’s no difference. It’s vital for your landlord to have their safety record renewed. It is illegal for your landlord to have any gas work done in their rented properties, without proof of it being done by a registered professional. Furthermore, the safety of your gas will be guaranteed and costs will reduce greatly. All Gas Safe engineers have an I.D card and an official gas safety record booklet.
Are you aware of gas poisoning? Carbon monoxide is a colourless, odourless, tasteless gas, which kills. Causes vary; ill fitted gas connections, abandoned gas maintenance and no record of gas safety. If you are a landlord, but unsure about gas safety, please let us know.
